It is with great honour to share another milestone in the history of Sekolah Mutiara Harapan.
In an email sent by Cambridge International, SMH becomes a centre for Professional Development Qualifications as Ms. May Sicat Saquing becomes an Accredited Programme Leader for Educational Leadership. She attended the online induction and accreditation course from February to April 2024. The 10-week course allowed her to complete the Rationale, Programme Plan, and Session Plans of the PDQ Programme – all approved by Cambridge PDQ.
The approval to become a centre paves the way for school leaders to be given the opportunity to become Certified, thus ensuring continuous improvement in the implementation of the Cambridge Curriculum as well as school governance in general. SMH can now offer the course not only to its leaders but also to the other possible candidates in the area. To date, SMH is the first PDQ Centre in Sumatra as informed by Mr. Adri Prakoso, Cambridge Country Manager.
Cambridge PDQs transform professional learning for teachers and leaders. The programmes:
- meet the needs and priorities of the individual and the school
- support school-based professional development
- enhance professional thinking and practice to improve the quality of learning
- provide international benchmarks for professional learning, leading to valuable certification and progression
- energise professional learning communities.
In the future, teachers will also be encouraged to take other PDQ courses like Teaching and Learning, Teaching Bilingual Learners, and Teaching with Digital Technologies and become programme leaders to expand SMH PDQ offerings.
Schools that are PDQ Centres in Indonesia include Raffles Christian School, BPK Penabur Jakarta, Jubilee School, Bukit Sion School (Jakarta), Al-Irsyad School (Bandung), and Elyon Christian School (Surabaya).
